President Donald Trump celebrated his first 100 days of his second term with a rally in Michigan on April 29, 2025. However, recent national polls reflect historically low approval ratings. A Reuters/Ipsos survey conducted April 25-27 places Trump’s approval at 42% with a 53% disapproval rate – figures unchanged from the previous week. Other polls, including those by NPR/PBS/Marist, CNN, and The Economist/YouGov, show similar approval ratings around 41-42%.
Concerns over the economy, immigration, and trade are contributing to the low ratings. Approval of Trump’s economic handling has fallen to 36%, the lowest of either term. Immigration approval remains at 45%, though disapproval has risen slightly. A RealClearPolitics average (excluding the latest RealClearPolitics average (excluding the latest Reuters/Ipsos poll) shows a 45.1% approval and 52.1% disapproval. These numbers mark some of the lowest early second-term ratings for a president since Dwight Eisenhower.
