Milwaukee Judge Arrested for Allegedly Helping Immigrant Evade ICE, Protestors Rally Outside FBI

Dugan faces charges of obstructing justice and concealing an individual to prevent arrests. The arrest, made by the FBI on Friday, follows rising tensions between state and local officials and the Trump administration regarding immigration policies. Governor Tony Evers criticized the administration’s rhetoric, while Democratic lawmakers expressed concern about the separation of powers.

Flores-Ruiz, who had been charged with domestic battery, was subject to deportation due to his prior criminal record. Dugan’s actions have been compared to a similar case from Massachusetts, where a judge helped an immigrant avoid ICE agents.

The incident has intensified the conflict between federal immigration authorities and local governments, highlighting concerns about the potential intimidation of immigrants and the impact on the judiciary’s independence.
