Despite President Trump’s claims that there would be changes coming to “protect our Farmers” from losing workers, the Department of Homeland Security has declared that this will not be the case. DHS has reversed a previous policy that exempted these industries from immigration raids. Senior advisor, Stephan Miller, objected to any exceptions arguing that immigration should be enforced uniformly.
ICE agents have been ordered to resume worksite enforcement actions, specifically targeting businesses regardless of their labor needs. The officials from ICE have stated that agents are still required to continue immigration raids in farms, hotels and restaurants. The June 12, 2025, memo claims that by excluding these industries from ICE raids, they would be eliminating a significant number of potential targets. The Trump administration is still persistent in their need to meet their deportation quota of at least 3,000 arrests daily. They want to expand efforts to detail those in America’s largest cities and do everything in their power to complete the “largest mass deportation program in history.”
