The Department of Homeland Security Center for Countering Human Trafficking released its fiscal year 2024 Annual Report showing significant progress in combating human trafficking across multiple fronts. The department assisted over 800 trafficking victims, granted protections to more than 24,000 victims and their families, and made over 2,500 trafficking-related arrests. These efforts resulted in 914 indictments and 405 convictions, demonstrating the Department's approach to both victim support and criminal prosecution.
Key operational achievements included Homeland Security Investigations initiating 1,686 criminal investigations that led to 2,545 arrests, while U.S. Customs and Border Protection stopped 231 shipments worth over $12 million suspected of containing forced labor goods. The department's education and outreach efforts were robust this year, with the Blue Campaign conducting 170 training sessions reaching over 23,000 individuals directly and 280,000 through partnerships. The U.S. Secret Service expanded its Childhood Smart Ambassador program to 275 ambassadors who made over 1,100 presentations, representing an 84% increase in outreach compared to the previous year.
